CO² Monitoring
Carbon Monoxide (CO), one of the most toxic components of vehicle exhaust, is a significant safety concern in parking structures. Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colourless, odourless and tasteless gas that is highly toxic to humans and animals; it bonds with haemoglobin and reduces the oxygen-carrying capacity of blood in the body.
CO is produced from the partial oxidation of carbon-containing compounds; it forms when there is not enough oxygen to produce Carbon Dioxide (CO2), such as when operating a combustion engine in an enclosed space.
Many buildings just have carpark supply and exhaust fans running constantly. By using a carbon monoxide monitoring system, fans are controlled using VSDs when they are required, according to the CO levels.
Once these systems are in place and commissioned accordingly they need to be inspected and calibrated/certified every 12months for accuracy. The more accurate these sensors are the better the system will run therefore eliminating excessive fan run hours.
